Shaping the Future: Emerging themes for student futures programs

Providing a succinct curated overview of the key contemporary themes in practice relating to student futures programs, this short course is designed for school leaders and educators of years 6-10 who do not necessarily have a careers background or focus.

A briefing on changes in the world of work helps to contextualise recent pattern analysis about young people's expectations and aspirations today. 

Cut through the complex world of future skills, careers education and life design from the primary years and up. You will complete the course with a strong sense of what works, and where the field is heading right now.

Course format:

This short course includes a live 1-hour instructor-led webinar, plus self-paced online learning. Resources can be downloaded, however to successfully complete the course, you must participate in ONE session of the live webinar. There are three dates to choose from:

  • Wednesday August 24, 5-6pm AEST
  • Wednesday August 31, 1-2pm AEST
  • OR Tuesday September 13, 3:30-4:30pm, AEST

The total time allocation for the course is 2.5 hours. Optional further reading suggestions may go beyond this time allocation and is clearly marked as optional.
